Ghana’s long-running dancehall feud took an unexpected turn when Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale shared a rare hug on stage during a major fundraising event for the Black Stars.
The moment, which drew loud cheers from the audience, was reportedly prompted by an appeal from President John Dramani Mahama, who was present at the event held on Friday, March 20, 2026, in support of Ghana’s 2026 World Cup campaign.
Hosting the event, media personality Berla Mundi conveyed the president’s request to both the audience and the artistes. On stage with co-host Nathaniel Attoh, the two musicians, whose long-standing feud dates back to their clash at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2019 ( VGMA), initially seemed reluctant.
However, with the spotlight firmly on them and the president watching, they stepped forward and exchanged a brief hug, patting each other on the back.
Seated among dignitaries, including Sports Minister Kofi Adams and Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku, President Mahama applauded the gesture as the auditorium erupted in excitement.
Following the embrace, both artistes saluted the president, marking what many described as a symbolic albeit brief moment of unity between two of Ghana’s biggest music figures.

The moment has since sparked mixed reactions across social media. While some fans praised the display of unity, others questioned its authenticity.
A section of fans expressed excitement, describing the gesture as “long overdue” and a positive sign for Ghana’s entertainment industry.
However, others were less convinced. Some argued that the hug felt staged, with comments suggesting the artistes were “just doing it for the cameras” rather than showing genuine reconciliation.
