The Chairperson of the Women Caucus in Parliament, Comfort Doyoe, has warned that men who contest against women candidates in the upcoming 2028 elections will be “publicly named and shamed.”

Delivering her remarks in Parliament on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, she noted that Ghana’s female representation is low and urged steps to increase women’s participation in governance.

“Mr. Speaker, all men who will contest women in this parliament this year and next year elections, we will name and shame them because we need to protect our women,” she said.

Mrs. Doyoe referenced a United Nations report indicating that Ghana ranks low in women’s representation in leadership , highlighting the country’s weak performance in that area

“Mr. Speaker there is 188 countries and Ghana is 149, which means we have not done well at all when it comes to women,” she lamented.

She further stated that the Women’s Caucus will share the report with Speaker of parliament, Alban Bagbin and President John Dramani Mahama to seek stronger support for women.

“The women caucus will go to the speaker and show it to the speaker, and tell him how he can support the women so that we retain our seats, Mr. Speaker from there we are going to the president of the republic to show him the report that we perform abysmally in the world record,” she stated.
