Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso Central, Henry Quartey, has alleged that he was treated like “a goat” after visiting the incident site at Accra Newtown.
He voiced his concern during the rescue operation at Accra Newtown, where a four-storey building collapsed during an ongoing church service on Sunday, March 29, 2026.
”A disaster like this has befallen us and they sack an NPP person, the National Security, Police and soldiers, they are sacking me like a goat,” he said.
He described the situation as disgraceful, expressing his disappointment at how he was treated, terming it “bad politics.”
”I am disappointed that when people are stuck in rubble, people are doing politics here. After serving this constituency for 12 years, if they do not want me here, I am leaving.
”But I want the world to know that this is bad politics. We are in trouble; a great calamity has befallen us, but look at what they are doing; it is so disgraceful,” he expressed.
Mr. Quartey pinned this on the Ghana Police, saying they showed misconduct today and were very disrespectful. It is not good for the country’s democracy.
