Ghanaian rising musician, Safo Newman, has opened up about a missed collaboration opportunity with award-winning rapper Sarkodie, revealing that plans to feature him on the remix of his song ‘Akokoa’ never materialised.
Speaking in an interview, Safo Newman disclosed that although he initially reached out to Sarkodie for a remix, the rapper suggested they work on a completely new song instead.
“I wanted to feature Sarkodie on the Akokoa remix but he suggested we do a new song instead. Since then, I haven’t heard from him. He told me it’s not yet time and that he’s very busy and has a lot on his hands. Maybe at the right time things will be better,” he said.
His revelation has since sparked conversations across social media, with many users sharing mixed reactions.
Some fans supported Sarkodie’s decision, arguing that his involvement in the remix could have overshadowed Safo Newman’s shine, with claims that he may have stepped back to allow the rising artiste to enjoy his moment.
“If he does a song with him he is taking his shine, if he does not do it he is a bad person ignoring the kid etc. Bunch of ignorant knuckleheads,” MR. Chris commented.
Others, however, expressed disappointment over the stalled collaboration, noting that a joint project between the two artistes could have significantly boosted Safo Newman’s reach and exposure.
