Former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic collapse of a building in Accra New Town, which has left several people dead, injured and others trapped beneath the rubble.
In a statement shared on his social media platforms, the economist conveyed his condolences to the affected families and called for urgent support for the victims.
He noted that he received the news with sadness and extended heartfelt sympathies to those who lost loved ones in the incident.
“I have received with sadness news of the tragic building collapse in Accra Newtown this afternoon. May the lives lost painfully rest in peace, and my deepest sympathy goes to the families,” he stated.
He also expressed hope that those trapped would be rescued safely and that the injured would recover quickly.
Dr Bawumia further commended emergency responders and rescue teams for their swift intervention and dedication to saving lives, urging them to continue their efforts.
