NRSA’s decision to ban Toyota Voxy lazy, ill-conceived approach – Transport Operators
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Commercial Transport Operators of Ghana assert that the National Road Safety Authority’s (NRSA) move to ban the use of Toyota Voxy for commercial purposes is a lazy and ill-conceived approach to addressing road safety concerns.

They strongly condemn this decision and call on the NRSA for reconsideration.

According to the operators, instead of implementing blanket bans, the NRSA should prioritize driver education, safety seminars, and skill enhancement programs.

They contend that the Toyota Voxy is a popular and dependable vehicle widely used for commercial transport, contrary to the Authority’s claims.

Banning the vehicle from commercial duties would impose “significant hardship for many families,” they argue.

“We demand that the NRSA reconsider the ban and engage with stakeholders, develop targeted safety measures for high-risk areas.

“Prioritize driver education and training, address root causes of accidents, such as poor road infrastructure,” the statement advocated.

The statement was co-signed by the National Chairman, the Public Relations Officer of the Operators, and the Public Relations Officer of the True Drivers Union.

They defend their position by stating that the NRSA’s plan demonstrates a lack of understanding of the sector’s complexities.

“We will not support this shameful idea and will take all necessary steps to protect our members’ interests,” they emphasised.
