We’ll agitate if Mahama gets anti-LGBT bill and chooses not to sign it – Sam George

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, says failure by President John Dramani Mahama to assent to the anti-LGBTQ bill could trigger public agitation.

According to him “If President Mahama gets the bill and he doesn’t and chooses not to sign it, we will agitate,” adding that such action would be in defense of what he described as Ghanaian family values.

Speaking to the media on the sideline interview, he noted that the bill is currently undergoing due process in the Parliament, disclosing that the legitimate Committee is expected to hold a meeting on the bill.

“Parliament of Ghana is going through the process in two weeks, the Committee on Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs is going to be meeting on the bill, a two-day meeting on the bill,” the minister pointed out.

Mr. Nartey clarified that there is currently no bill before the President, maintaining that the issue should not be politicized.

“As far as I’m concerned, guardian family values are not political; those who want to do politics with it is unfortunate,” he argued.

The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, emphasized that despite widespread misinformation, his position has always been clear.
