The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has assured that this year’s Police Competitive Promotional Exams (PCPE) will be based solely on merit, with 7,133 Chief Inspectors vying for limited slots at the Police Academy.
The exams, scheduled for April 12, 2026, at three centers in Accra, will select the top 700 candidates to constitute Cadet Course 54 and Cadet Course 55.

IGP Yohuno emphasized that the selection process is transparent and urged candidates to focus on their studies, dismissing rumors of favoritism.
“All candidates are to note that the administration does not have any hand in the selection process. It is only your performance that will speak for you,” Mr. Yohuno told the candidates.
The IGP also encouraged candidates to adhere to examination rules and regulations.
Briefing and orientation sessions was held on April 10, 2026, at the National Police Training School ground, with candidates receiving orientation guides to ensure they are well-prepared for the exams.
