It is confirmed that the Berekum Chelsea player who sustained severe injuries following a robbery attack on the team bus has passed away.
The incident occurred on Sunday night, April 12, 2026, when the team was returning from Samreboi, where they had lost 1-0 to FC Samartex in a Matchday 29 clash.
The team bus was ambushed at Ahyiresu on the Bibiani-Goaso highway, with the robbers reportedly opening fire on the vehicle.
The player in question, Dominic Frimpong, a striker for the team, sustained severe head injuries.
Berekum Chelsea, while confirming the attack, described the player’s injuries as “badly” inflicted, noting that he was receiving medical attention.
However, local media within the jurisdiction where the incident occurred reported that Dominic Frimpong was later pronounced dead.
The club has yet to issue an official statement on the reported demise of the player.
