The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has provided guidelines for travelers transporting pets through Accra International Airport (AIA), detailing the necessary steps for smooth import and export processes.
According to GACL, passengers departing from AIA are required to obtain a pet export permit from Veterinary Services, Labone, Accra, at least one month before their travel date.
The permit ensures compliance with export regulations for animals leaving Ghana.
For travelers arriving in Ghana, GACL advises securing a pet import permit before arrival to facilitate entry procedures at AIA.
The Company noted that all pets and accompanying permits will undergo inspection at Accra International Airport on both arrival and departure, and inspection fees will apply.
GACL further urged travelers to contact +233 201 919 896 for more information.
