Interior Minister receives Agogo Chiefs over passing of former minister

A delegation from Asante Agogo Traditional Area paid a visit to the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, at his office in Accra, on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

They visited to formally inform the Ministry of the passing of the Omanhene of Asante Akyem Agogo, Nana Akuako Sarpong, who also served as Minister for the Interior from 1991 to 1992.

The delegation, led by Nana Bediako Brogya Sarpong, Dompiahene of Asante Akyem Agogo, conveyed the sad news to the Minister on behalf of the traditional authorities and family.

Receiving the delegation, the Minister expressed appreciation to the chiefs and elders for officially informing the Ministry of the passing of the former Minister.

He expressed the Ministry’s condolences to the family and assured the delegation of the Ministry’s support during the funeral and related activities.

Muntaka described the late Nana Kwame Akuoko Sarpong as an astute politician and statesman who served the nation with dedication and distinction.

The delegation expressed gratitude to the Minister and the Ministry for the warm reception and support shown.
