Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has expressed deep sorrow following the death of Maxwell Kofi Nti, Personal Aide to the Member of Parliament (MP) for Oda, Akwasi Acquah.
Mr. Nti died over the weekend in a fatal accident on the Oda-Nkwanta road while en route to monitor an election at a polling station during the ongoing Polling Station Executive Elections in the Oda Constituency.
In a statement of condolence, Chairman Wontumi said the unfortunate incident has left all party members deeply shocked and saddened, indicating that Mr. Maxwell was dedicated and served with commitment and passion.
“His untimely passing in the line of duty to the Party and constituency work is a painful loss not only to his family and loved ones, but also to the entire New Patriotic Party fraternity,” he stated.
He extended condolences to Mr. Akwasi Acquah, the bereaved family, Oda Constituency Executives, friends, and all mourning the loss.
He said his thoughts and prayers were also with the survivors of the accident, particularly the Deputy Constituency Organizer, who is reportedly in critical condition at the Koforidua Regional Hospital.
The NPP stalwart used the opportunity to urge party members to prioritize safety as internal elections continue nationwide.
“As we continue our internal electoral activities across the country, I wish to strongly urge all Party faithful, Campaign teams, Polling Station Executives, and Supporters across the country to continue exercising caution in their movements and activities during this election period.
“Let us all remain mindful of one another’s safety as we work together in service to our great Party,” he cautioned.
