Ghanaian music executive and founder of Lynx Entertainment, Richie Mensah, has announced that the company is no longer operating as a traditional record label or artiste management company.
According to Rich Mensah, the decision forms part of a personal promise he made to himself to step away from active music management when he turns 40.
Speaking about the transition, he revealed that Lynx Entertainment has officially exited the artiste management business and is now focused on music distribution and technology.
“I promised myself that when I turn 40, I was going to retire from doing music, and I’m honoring that promise because I value promises to myself,” he said.
He explained that the company has gradually phased out its artiste management operations, adding that Lynx currently does not manage any artiste.
“So what I started to do is phase out the music management part of Lynx. So currently, Lynx doesn’t manage any artiste. Lynx is officially out of the artiste management business. I cannot predict what the future holds, but currently, as we stand, Lynx does not manage any artiste,” he stated.
Rich Mensah further disclosed that the company has now transformed into a distribution company, with its next major focus being ‘Lynx electronic,’ a new direction centered on music technology and digital music consumption.
“What we have done is we’ve converted the record label to a distribution company, and the next thing I am focusing my full energy on is Lynx Electronic. For 20 years, I’ve been creating sound and creating music for people to enjoy, and now I’m focusing on creating a way they can enjoy that music, a way they can listen to that music,” he added.
