Founder of GN Bank, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, has expressed gratitude to God, traditional leaders, the judiciary, and President John Dramani Mahama following the restoration of his licence to operate.

In a statement shared after the licence was released, Dr. Nduom said he was thankful for the prayers, support, and encouragement for the #BringBackGNBank campaign.

“I thank everyone for their prayers, support and encouragement for our crusade #BringBackGNBank and to God the Almighty for listening to them,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Dr. Nduom extended appreciation to several traditional and religious leaders for opening their doors to them, naming Togbe Afede, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi, Archbishop Duncan-Williams, and Emeritus Bishops Sarpong and Nketsia.

He also thanked his people: Anomansafo, Edina Botwaeku, Asankoma, and Katakranka; saying “Medaase Papaapa.”

The businessman specifically acknowledged President John Dramani Mahama “for the promise he made as a presidential candidate to return banks collapsed unjustly” and “for creating an enabling and positive social and economic environment in the country.”

Dr. Nduom reserved special thanks for the judiciary, “particularly the Court of Appeal panel for understanding the call we have made since 2019 to correct the wrong decision made by the Bank of Ghana.”

GN Bank was among several financial institutions whose licences were revoked during the banking sector clean-up under the previous New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) administration.

The Bank of Ghana at the time cited failure to meet new minimum capital requirements and other regulatory policies.

Dr. Nduom has consistently described the revocation as unjust.

The restoration of the licence allows Dr. Nduom to freely operate the bank again.
