Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, has paid tribute to actress Beverly Afaglo following news of her death, describing her as pivotal to his acting career.
The actor-turned-politician shared the tribute in a Facebook post on Sunday, May 24, 2026, recalling how he met Afaglo nearly 20 years ago.
“About 20 years ago, I walked into the set of ‘About to Wed’ in Dzorwulu. That’s when I met Beverly Afaglo, Prince David Osei, and Yvonne Okyere,” Dumelo wrote. “We starred in one of the best TV series, and Bev brought out the best in me.”
Dumelo credited Afaglo for connecting him to a career-defining role. He said she called him a year later with a lead.
“Fast forward a year after, Bev calls and says ‘John, call Salam, movie Producer, they need someone to play the role of a King’. That’s how I got to star in the movie ‘King is Mine’ and the rest they say is history,” he stated.
Dumelo, who transitioned from acting to politics, thanked the late actress for her influence.
“Thanks so much, Bev, for playing a significant role in my acting career. I am glad you are resting peacefully now. I will always dey 4 u. One day, when I decide to write a book, your name will fill pages,” he added.
