The Paramount Queen Mother of Cape Coast, Nana Ekua Abookye VI, is calling on authorities to expedite investigations into the mysterious death of a student of the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
A statement from the office of the Queenmother, she expressed shock over the incident and added her voice to the growing calls of opinion leaders and concerned citizens for a thorough investigation.
According to Nana Ekua Abookye VI, this would ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and prosecuted according to law.
Nana Ekua Abookye VI further expressed confidence that traditional authorities (Nananom) would work closely with the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders to enhance security within the Central Region, particularly in Cape Coast.
She also urges residents to be vigilant and cooperate with the security agencies by reporting any suspicious persons or activities within their neighborhoods, drinking spots, beaches, hotels, and other public places.
The Queen Mother assures the general public that Cape Coast remains a peaceful, friendly, and welcoming city.
She emphasized that Cape Coast remains one of Ghana’s foremost tourist destinations, attracting thousands of visitors annually, and therefore maintaining peace, safety, and security is of paramount importance to the city’s development and reputation.
The Queen Mother extends her deepest condolences to the bereaved family and calls on the public to remain calm while allowing the security agencies to carry out their investigations professionally.
