The newly constructed court building in Asankrangwa caught fire on Monday, June 16, but was saved from extensive damage, following the swift response of Ghana National Fire Service personnel.
Firefighters from the Asankrangwa station arrived within minutes of receiving the emergency call and found parts of the building ablaze. The crew quickly deployed dry chemical powder extinguishers and brought the fire under control, extinguishing it shortly after.
The blaze destroyed an ECG meter and a three-phase breaker, while some electrical service cables were partially damaged. No casualties were recorded.
According to the Western Region PRO of the GNFS, the firefighters’ prompt action prevented the fire from spreading through the structure, averting significant financial losses to the state.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. Investigations are ongoing.
