Ghana Armed Forces flags fake ‘Operation Boafo’ flood assistance flyer circulating online

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has cautioned the public to disregard a viral flyer claiming to offer emergency flood assistance under “Operation Boafo,” describing it as fake and misleading.

In a Facebook post on Monday, June 29, 2026, the GAF issued a clear disclaimer over the graphic, which has been widely shared on social media amid heavy rainfall in Accra.

“Disclaimer! This is Fake. Please be Cautious,” the military wrote alongside the image.

The fake flyer bears the Ghana Armed Forces logo and the inscription “Operation Boafo: Emergency Flood Assistance.” It claims to be a response to “heavy rainfall in Accra today” and lists a phone number, 024 431 2667, for people to “call now.”

It also instructs residents to “Describe your situation clearly, send a photo or video, share your location pin,” and promises a “24/7 response.” The graphic is tagged “Accra” and “heavy rainfall alert.”

GAF urged Ghanaians to be cautious and to rely only on official communication channels of the Armed Forces for credible information during emergencies.

The public is advised to verify all emergency messages through the official Ghana Armed Forces Facebook page and other verified government platforms.
