Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Suame, Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to lead efforts to complete the Agenda 111 hospital projects.

His comments follow Cabinet’s decision to discontinue most Agenda 111 projects and prioritize the completion of only 35 health facilities across the country as part of efforts to manage available resources.

According to Ofosu Boakye, while in opposition, President Mahama promised Ghanaians that he would ensure the completion of the Agenda 111 projects and employ more nurses if elected.

He said the President should now be the first to commit resources to fulfilling that pledge.

“The focus should not be on who started or completed a project,” Ofosu Boakye stated on Thursday, July 9, 2026 on Angel FM’s ‘Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ’.

He also argued that Agenda 111 was not the only healthcare initiative undertaken by the previous administration, adding that the Akufo-Addo government also began the construction of 50 other hospitals, including IPEP clinics.

“Everything should not be about politics,” Ofosu Boakye said.

He added: “Let us put Ghana first in every situation and avoid arguments about who started what or who left projects unfinished.

That does not contribute to the country’s economic development.”
