Former Ghanaian International Daniel Quaye has added his voice to the never-ending comparison between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
There has been a long-standing debate among the football community about who, between the two, is the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) to have graced the game.
Dan Quaye, in his opinion, believes the Argentine ‘wizard’ is the GOAT and emphasises that he is incomparable.

He was quick to note that his pick does not in any way undermine the greatness and quality of Ronaldo; however, he was just being honest as a former footballer.
Speaking further, the former Accra Hearts of Oak legend categorically stated that Messi’s greatness is “unmatched.”
“I have played before, and the truth they say is always one. Ronaldo is a great player with his own unique qualities, but Messi is a different breed altogether. I don’t even know how to describe his greatness on this earth.
“It’ll be very difficult to get a player in this current generation that can be compared to him [Messi]. He’s simply phenomenal and unmatched,” Dan Quaye told Darius Osei Ember on AngelSportsLive.
The former Black Stars robust defender made this statement on Thursday, July 16, 2026, when asked by the host if the GOAT argument could still be relevant amid the 39-year-old’s performance at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup.
This comes on the back of Messi’s five-star performance, coupled with two assists to help Argentina in a dramatic comeback win against England in the semi-final.
