The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is holding an emergency meeting to review the judgment delivered by the Criminal Division of the Accra High Court in the case involving the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

The meeting, which includes the party’s flagbearer and legal team, follows the court’s decision to sentence Wontumi to 20 years’ imprisonment after convicting him in connection with the Samreboi mining matter.

In a statement signed by the NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party said the meeting is aimed at thoroughly reviewing the court’s judgment and determining the appropriate next course of action.

According to the statement, the party will communicate its official position and the decisions arising from the deliberations in due course.

The statement also called on party members to remain calm and united during the period.

“I respectfully urge all members of our great Party to rally behind the leadership during this challenging moment. Let us remain calm, united, disciplined, and steadfast in our commitment to the values and interests of the New Patriotic Party,” the statement signed by General Secretary Justice Frimpong Kodua said.

However, the NPP has not yet announced any further action regarding the court’s ruling.
