The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested five suspected members of a criminal syndicate believed to be involved in armed robbery and landguard activities at Sapieman Faase in the Accra Region.
They were arrested in an intelligence-led operation jointly with the National Police Intelligence Directorate (NPID).
The suspects are Torgbu Agah Semaglo, 50; Shadrach Agah Semaglo, 22; William Kweku Sedanu, 21; Cyril Kassenu, 26; and Kingsford Agah Semaglo, 18, on July 17, 2026.
According to a police statement, a search at the suspects’ premises resulted in the retrieval of one pump-action gun, one Stoeger ST-R9 pistol, one dummy Austria pistol, one jackknife, one face mask, 12 BB cartridges, three rounds of 9mm ammunition, one AK-47 round of ammunition, one talisman and two kitchen knives.
“All the exhibits have been retained for evidential purposes,” the statement said.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are believed to be members of a criminal group involved in armed robbery and landguard activities.
Police said the group allegedly used the recovered weapons to terrorise residents within the Sapieman area and its environs.
The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while efforts are underway to establish their involvement in other criminal activities and apprehend any additional accomplices.
The Accra Regional Police Command commended members of the public for supporting the police with credible information and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through the police emergency numbers.
