Kumawood movie producer, Jackson K. Bentum, has called on the government to ensure that hard labour for prisoners focuses on rehabilitation rather than punishment alone.
In a Facebook post shared on Monday, July 20,2026, Mr. Bentum said inmates should be given opportunities to engage in meaningful work that equips them with valuable skills while serving their sentences.
“When we talk about hard labour, the government should find ways for prisoners to contribute positively through meaningful work. It can help them learn skills, support rehabilitation, and prepare them to become productive members of society after serving their sentences,” he wrote.
He added that justice should not only be about punishment but also about giving offenders a second chance to rebuild their lives.
“Justice should also include giving people a chance to rebuild their lives,”he stated.
