Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has stressed that Ghana’s development cannot be measured solely by economic growth and physical infrastructure, insisting that the country’s long-term progress must be anchored on strong values, integrity and responsible leadership.
He made the remarks at the National Development Conference organised by The Church of Pentecost, where government officials, traditional leaders and other stakeholders gathered to discuss the country’s development agenda.
Addressing the conference, Mr. Debrah conveyed the warm greetings and commendation of President John Dramani Mahama to the leadership of The Church of Pentecost for organising what he described as a timely platform for national dialogue and reflection.
“The National Development Conference organised by The Church of Pentecost represents an important call to collective reflection on the values that must guide Ghana’s development journey,” he said.
According to the Chief of Staff, the true progress of a nation goes beyond roads, buildings and other physical projects.
“The progress of any nation is built not only on economic growth and physical infrastructure, but also on the strength of its values. A country’s true advancement depends on the character of its people, the integrity of its institutions, and the commitment of its leaders to serve with honesty, accountability, and responsibility,” he stated.
Mr. Debrah emphasised that the Church and traditional authorities continue to play a vital role in nation-building by promoting moral values, preserving culture and strengthening social cohesion.
“As Ghana continues to pursue sustainable development, the role of institutions such as the Church and Traditional Authorities remains indispensable. These institutions are custodians of values, culture, and social cohesion, and their partnership with Government is critical in building a nation founded on peace, unity, and shared responsibility,” he noted.
He commended the leadership of The Church of Pentecost for creating a platform that encourages dialogue on national development, saying such initiatives promote collaboration among key stakeholders.
“The task of building the Ghana we desire requires the collective effort of all sectors of society, guided by a renewed commitment to integrity, service, and the common good,” Mr. Debrah added.
The Chief of Staff urged all Ghanaians to embrace values of honesty, accountability and service, stressing that these principles remain essential to achieving sustainable development and building a prosperous nation.
