The Ghana Police Service intercepted 4,627 vehicles across the country in an ongoing nationwide road traffic enforcement exercise.
The exercise, which commenced on June 15, 2026, targets unauthorised usage of sirens, horns, strobe lights, beacon lights, improved vehicle modifications and related offences.
In the Greater Accra Region alone, 1,054 vehicles were impounded as part of the operation.
According to a police statement, the enforcement exercise forms part of the Service’s commitment to promoting discipline, safety, and compliance with the Road Traffic Regulations.
“A total of 4,627 vehicles have so far been intercepted across the country since the exercise commenced on 15th June 2026.”
It noted that drivers found in violation were educated on the relevant Road Traffic Regulations, while unauthorised devices and modifications were removed and seized for further action.
The Police assures the public that similar operations will continue nationwide to improve road safety and ensure strict compliance with the law.
