Fire has swept through a car spraying shop at Kotobabi, near Tobinco, but firefighters have succeeded in bringing the blaze under control.
Personnel from the Circle and Industrial Area fire stations were dispatched to the scene to battle the flames.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Alex King Nartey, the situation has now been contained and cooling operations are underway to prevent re-ignition.
“The situation has been contained and controlled and cooling is underway to make sure that it won’t further spread or damage,” Mr. Nartey said.
Fire officials noted that the shop is located in a densely populated area with houses and wooden structures nearby. They said a swift response was critical in averting widespread destruction.
“If we hadn’t responded earlier, it would have caused a lot of damage,” Mr. Nartey added.
No casualties have been reported. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and investigations will begin after cooling is completed.
