Angel 102.9 FM, a subsidiary of the Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN) has launched a campaign to end medical negligence in the country.

The campaign #PatientLivesMatter which was launched on the Morning Show, Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ on Monday, June 29, 2020, aims at offering victims of medical negligence the opportunity to voice out their grievances against the healthcare system in Ghana.

General Manager of the station based in Abeka-Lapaz on the N1 Highway, Kwadwo Dickson, was hopeful the campaign will help improve healthcare delivery in the country.

The campaign follows a series of complaints from Ghanaians of alleged medical negligence at various hospitals.

The latest is that of the Director of the Ghana Institute of Languages, Dr Emmanuel Kuto, who lost his wife at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (GARH) also known as the Ridge Hospital, after she was allegedly given wrong medication by a doctor.

Authorities at the Hospital have since indicated their readiness to cause investigations into the matter.

Another victim of medical negligence is the husband of the late Nana Akua Nyarko, Mustapha Muhammed, who has been on a mission to get justice for his late wife.

According to him, he was accused of failing to buy certain drugs that could have sustained the wife, an accusation he denies.

Celebrated broadcaster, Nana Yaa Brefo also revealed that she had her womb removed because a doctor stitched her womb wrongly after delivery.

“Do you know that as I sit here, I am like you? There is no difference between you the man and me sitting here. What makes me a woman is missing, I have no womb…yes, I have had to live without a womb for 13 years…,” she revealed on the show.

These and other stories caused the station to launch the campaign #PatientLivesMatter, which seeks to get justice for victims of medical negligence.
