Two more teachers at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Senior High School have been interdicted following the death of a student on Tuesday.

They are Owusu Ansah Seth, a senior housemaster, and Anthony Awotwe, a housemaster for the Densu house where the deceased student resided.

The headteacher Felicia Asamoah Dankwaa was the first to have been interdicted on Wednesday.

Richard Sam, the deceased final year students had severe stomachache but was unattended to by the school authorities for several hours for fear that he might have contracted coronavirus.

The day-student-turned-boarder died the following day at a health facility in the Ashanti region.

There was a huge public outcry and resentment after a video of the boy battling for his life as his colleagues struggled to sustain him went viral. The scene was the KNUST SHS campus with some teachers standing few meters away seemingly hard-hearted.

His death has elicited a new wave of calls on government to close down secondary schools that were re-opened a fortnight ago for only final year students. Similar case has been made for final year students in basic schools.

About 90 percent of staff at the Ministry of Education as well as the Director General of Ghana Education Service Prof. Opku Amankwah have tested positive for the deadly pandemic

Meanwhile, Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh who once tested positive for coronavirus has rejected calls to close down schools.

But his counterpart in Nigeria has announced that final year secondary school students in Nigeria won’t participate in the upcoming West African Examination Council’s West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
