The former President, Jerry John Rawlings has announced the closure of his office at Ridge in Accra as the deadly coronavirus keeps rising in Ghana.
A statement issued by the office of the former president on Friday said the closure takes immediate effect.
“The closure is due to the unfortunate spread of the Covid-19 virus,” the statement signed by Kobina Andoh Amoakwa, Head of Communications Directorate at the office explained.
The decision, the statement said, is aimed at protecting staff and potential visitors.
The decision will however be reviewed after two weeks.
“The former President once again urges all Ghanaians to be mindful of their personal discipline and care as we work to combat the disease.
“He calls on all to wear their masks, maintain appropriate social distancing, cough etiquette and general hygiene protocols.”
Members of the general public who wish to urgently contact the office have been urged to do so through email – office@presidentrawlings.com, kobbyandoh@gmail.com.
