Legendary Highlife musician, Nana Kwame Ampadu, has said that he should be credited as the originator of hiplife music in the country.

The celebrated musician who was a guest on #FridayOldSkuul on ‘Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ’ on Angel 102.9 FM on Friday, July 10, 2020, said he commenced rap music in the country.

According to him, he rapped the first lines of his song, ‘Ebi te yie’  in 1967 and hence remains shocked anytime other musicians claim to be credited as the originators of the hiplife genre of music.

“I am also the originator of rap music in the country, I rapped in the 1967 song which went viral…,” he told host Captain Smart.
