We are not losing fight against COVID-19 – GHS boss

The Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Patrick Kumah Aboagye, has said that Ghana is not losing the fight against COVID -19.

Speaking to Captain Smart on ‘Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ’ morning show on Angel 102.9 FM, he said that, the speed at which cases were being picked up in schools should send signals that there are good systems in place to check COVID -19 in the country.

The Director General of the GHS told host of the program, Captain Smart that “we are not losing the fight based on the number of recoveries and the early identification systems put in place.”

However, the National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, expressed contrary views on the matter. At a press briefing on Monday, July 13, Sammy Gyamfi indicated that government has lost the fight against Covid-19.

But Dr Patrick Kuma Aboagye also stated that closing down of Senior High and Junior High Schools due to recorded cases of COVID -19 is not the best option.

According to him, the most important thing about the novel coronavirus is early detection and prevention before it spreads widely.

To him, the fight against COVID -19 would be a lot easier should all Ghanaians make a conscious effort to protect themselves and other people around them.
