A 27-year-old man identified as Nsoh Adongo, has been tied to a tree by a mob and caned severely at the premises of Dorongo Primary School.
Bolgatanga District police situation report said, a preliminary investigation revealed that the young man was accused by some residents of stealing water storage barrel and some stainless-steel bowls.
The Bolgatanga District Command said they received a distress call about the incident and rushed to the scene to rescue him.
When the police proceeded to Dorongo, the officers met a young man with multiple marks of assaults.
“On July 14, 2020 about 1430 hours, the District Police Command had a distress call to the effect that, a young man was arrested at Dorongo was tied against a tree and was being caned by a mob.
“The Assemblyman, Martin Adongo encouraged the attack on the victim”, the situation report revealed.
The suspect-turned-victim was rescued and rushed to the police clinic at Bolgatanga where he was treated and discharged.
Meanwhile, the assembly man, Martin Adongo and two others namely, Atanga Atampugre and Abu Akanyela who were part of the mob have been arrested.
