The General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party has derided the opposition National Democratic Congress, claiming the latter shied away from making its manifesto public because it was waiting to copy the former.

Speaking at the official launch of the NPP 2020 manifesto in Cape Coast on Saturday, August 22, 2020, John Boadu taunted the NDC of not being bold to present the manifesto the NDC had claimed was ready weeks ago.

“We have launched our manifesto, they are free to copy,” he invited the NDC.

There is this ritual between the two biggest political parties in every election year as each party holds its manifesto to the chest expecting the other to take the first step in launching. The two parties have been accusing each other of not being original when it comes to manifesto.

But John Boadu explained to the gathering that he threw the challenge to the NDC to copy the NPP’s manifesto because he was certain that even if the NDC “appropriate the ideas”, because they are not the originators, they cannot implement them properly.

Some 120 NPP executive and other top officials are participating in the manifesto launch.

The manifesto will be the new social contract between the Akufo-Addo-led administration and Ghanaians, if President Akufo-Addo is re-elected in the 2020 general elections.
