Footballer Eric Donkor is proposing a minimum monthly wage of Gh¢2,000 for footballers playing in the Ghana premier league.
This he says will make the players in the local league live a deserving life and not be in a hurry to seek greener pastures elsewhere.
According to the former Asante Kotoko player, the standard of topflight football in Ghana has dropped drastically over the years, due to the low wages paid to players.
“Even if the leaders cannot arrive at a minimum wage for us, they should try for the next generation,” Eric Donkor told Angel FM Sports show host, Saddick Adams, on Thursday, September 10, 2020.
“It is difficult for a Ghana premier league player to marry and keep a happy home,” the footballer lamented.
