Increase our commission to 15% – Autioneers to Gov’t

Members of Ghana Auctioneers Association (GAA) has appealed to the Government to consider increasing their commission charge from auctioning items approved legally by Court from 7% to 15%.

A member of the Association, Mr Francis Kwaku Yeboah speaking with Angel News said the 7% which is given them after auctioning an asset of the government is paltry and hence is appealing to grant them increment.

He indicated that, since they sell under the reserve price (approve) giving by the State, their share of percentage shouldn’t be a problem between the Individual Auctioneer and the State.

The GAA is the only umbrella body for all practicing license auctioneers in Ghana and was regulated by the Auction sales Act 1989, Act 230.

But the Association believes that the activities of auctioneers play an important role in Ghana’s justice delivery system and has been resilient by assisting the judiciary to dispose properties and raise funds needed to compensate the aggrieved parties despite the challenges they at times face during their service.

Mr. Kwaku Yeboah charged the government to consider their plea and increase their commission from 7% to 15% since they spent a lot on advertisement before items are displayed to the public for sale.

Mr. Yeboah further called on the government to provide them with consistent protection whenever a mission under their jurisdiction is apportioned to them.
