Elmina Sharks player James Bissue is optimistic his 91st minute long range goal against Legon Cities can win a Puskas Award. He scored the beauty of a goal in their match day 33 game in the Ghana Premier League at the Nduom Stadium in Elmina.
The Puskas is award for the most beautiful goal in a calender year. The award is in honour of former Real Madrid and Hungarian striker Ferenc Puskas. Cristiano Ronaldo won the first Puskas Award in 2009. Last year, Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min goal was given the accolade.
Speaking on Floodlight Sports with Saddick Adams on Angel 102.9, the former Hearts of Oak player said, scoring such goals require special skills. A technique he only applies when goalkeepers like coming out of the post.
According to him, well, I never dreamt I will score such a goal which will be seen by people all over the world. After my goal went viral, I have had calls from a lot of people both home and abroad. I believe I can win the Puskas Award with my goal against Legon Cities.
Elmina Sharks are currently 16th on the league log and are hoping for a positive result to win their battle against relegation.
