The Atta-Mills Institute (AMI), has lined up a week-long activities to mark the Second Year of full existence since its maiden seminar at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences on July 23, 2019.

According to a statement signed by the Chief Executive of the Institute, Mr. Samuel Koku Anyidoho, dated July 17, 2021, the program will be held under the theme “9 years on: Entrenching the solid legacy of John Evans Atta-Mills” in the coming days.

Here is the full list of events slated for the week, as indicated in the notice:

Monday, July 19, 2021, there shall be a Press Engagement—strictly for the press— at the Asomdwee Park to allow the media to have a feel of how work has progressed as regards the forward-looking and nationalistic pledge during last year’s anniversary by the Administration of His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to construct the Asomdwee Park to fit its original architectural design.

Wednesday, July 21, 2021 (the birth date of President Atta-Mills – which is a Special Events Day, on the Calendar of AMI), there shall be a Charity Donation to the YOA Disability Foundation. The YOA Disability Foundation helps support children suffering from cerebral palsy. When he was alive, President Atta-Mills always commemorated his birthday by making donations to the less privileged; AMI has chosen to keep that tradition alive.

Thursday, July 22, 2021, there will be another Press Engagement to speak to our theme “9 years on: Entrenching the solid legacy of John Evans Atta-Mills.” We shall be speaking poignantly about the Constitution Review Commission (CRC), set up by President Atta-Mills in 2010; the Report Submitted; the White Paper that was issued; and how it has become more relevant than before, to take another look at the 1992 Constitution.

The Event will take place at the International Press Centre at 1pm prompt.

However, the AMI CEO noted that “there shall be no wreath-laying ceremony this year” which should have been on Saturday, July 24, 2021, due to the fact that the Asomdwee Park is under construction.

“We are looking forward with bold optimism to having, an extremely colourful wreath-laying ceremony next year, when His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, under the auspices of the Republic of Ghana, officially commissions the completed exquisite and edifying Asomdwee Park to mark the 10th anniversary of the passing-on of His Excellency President John Evans Atta-Mills,” Mr. Anyidoho added, while appreciating the efforts of all who have contributed to the “growth of the Atta-Mills Institute for Civic Education and Public Policy Advocacy.”
