14 herdsmen have been arrested in a special police operation over an alleged gang defilement of a 13year-old girl at Gomoa Adzintem in the Central Region.
“The special operation led to the retrieval of 2 single barrel and 2 pump action guns as well as 49 AA ammunitions”, said a signed statement issued by the Police Public Affairs Directorate on Saturday, August 28,2021.
According to the Acting Director General of the Public Affairs Unit, ACP Kwesi Ofori, the operation was carried out by the Formed Police Unit (FPU) together with personnel from the Central Eastern Regional Police Command.
Meanwhile, the police administration has assured the people of Gomoa Adzintem that an identification parade will be conducted to identify the real suspects who perpetrated the dastardly act to face the full rigors of the law.
In an earlier report by Angel News reporter, Opanyin Darko, the victim was assaulted and sustained some cutlass wounds for trying to resist.
Similarly, father of the victim, Kwabena Quaye, equally sustained cutlass wounds by the same assailants.
Some members of the community took to the streets to demonstrate upon hearing about the incident.
The aggrieved demonstrators, in an interview with Angel News, threatened to assault and kill any Fulani herdsman they see.
