Sixty-six percent of Ghanaians who responded to a post-election survey conducted by the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) said they are confident the Government of President Akufo-Addo can fight corruption in Ghana.

According to the respondents, the Akufo-Addo led government lacks the moral right to curb corruption and impunity by its officials.

“While Ghanaians are split in their opinion on the government’s ability to ensure that rule of law is upheld, the majority, however, are not confident in the ability of the Nana Addo led-NPP government to protect the country’s financial resources and curb corruption in the next 4 years,” the report issued by the CDD said.

According to the survey, 62% of the respondents were “not at all or not very confident” about the capacity of the government to curb corruption and impunity.

The survey also found that the majority of Ghanaians want President Akufo-Addo to focus on five priority areas.

Unemployment/infrastructure, roads, education, management of the economy and health were some of the issues they want him to tackle in his second term.

As much as 57% of the respondents also want President Akufo-Addo to focus on job creation in this second term.
