The Bono East Regional Health Director, Dr Fred Adomako-Boateng h,as said the rate at which the current wave of Covid-19 Delta variant is spreading in the region is very alarming.

According to him, a total of 2,408 cases with 57 deaths have been recorded in the region with the hot-spot areas being four main districts including Kintampo South.

“From the time Ghana recorded its first case to the end of 2020, we recorded 788 cases. In 2021, we have recorded 1,620 cases and we are not even at the end of the year. In 2020 total number of deaths recorded was 14 but currently we have recorded 57 deaths which means 43 were recorded in this year.

“90 percent of the cases recorded [1,620 cases] currently are delta variant. If you look at where the cases are coming from 80% are driven by four districts: Techiman South, Nkoranza South, Kintampo North and Pru East District.”
