Spokesperson for the family of late Ibrahim Muhammad, popularly known as Kaaka has expressed disgust at the slow pace of investigations into the circumstances that led to the death of their releative.

Mohammed Nafiu, who is cousin to the late social media activist, speaking on Angel FM’s Anↄpa Bↄfoↄ morning show disclosed that the CID began investigations into the killing of their relative after the three-member Committee’s report on findings concerning the Ejura disturbances was made public.

According to him, the investigative officers visited the home on September 30, 2021 where the alleged brutality that led to the death of Kaaka occurred.

What he described as displeasing was the officers’ instruction to set the place up to depict the original scene of the crime.

“They were trying to tell us that we should set the scene to be like the first day that the incident occurred. They came just this Thursday [September 30, 2021] after the pressure and everything, telling me as a brother to set the scene like the way it happened because I was there”,  Nafiu told host, Kofi Adoma Nwanwani.

Meanwhile, the slow pace of the process has not been the only headache for the family in their quest to seek justice for Kaaka.

Nafiu said the arrest of their brother, Iddi Mohammed on June 30, 2021, aggravated their pains because the actions of the state security suggest that they are responsible for his death.

“The family met and consoled ourselves before the 30th when our brother Iddi was arrested. We would have sought justice for Kaaka but having arrested our brother too, we grieved twice. Kaaka’s was a bit okay, but this in addition suggests that you are trying to tarnish the image of the entire family. That’s where the problem is.

“You are not sympathizing and empathizing with the family any more, but you are putting the total blame on the family. And by that adding a burden on us. First, we were thinking of the wife and children of kaaka but now we have to think about the legal team we have taken for Iddi which is another problem”, he added.

Iddi Mohammed however, is one of three persons arrested including Issaka Ibrahim and Fuseni Alhassan by the police in the Ejura community in connection with the death of the social activist who was also a member of the New Patriotic Party.

During his arrest, the family including daughter of the deceased, Munawara Ibrahim pleaded with that the government to intervene because her uncle Iddi was innocent.

“He is not the one who killed my father. He is not capable of doing such a thing. I can swear to that. I am really hurt. The real culprits are walking around freely while my innocent uncle is in police custody”, she said in an interview conducted by Citinewsroom.
