The Ghana Police Service, together with other statutory bodies, have begun investigations to uncover the cause of the explosion that occurred at the Juaben Oil Mills Limited on Tuesday October 5, 2021.
An industrial boiler machine at the oil mills which exploded caused the death of three persons, including two KNUST students, and injured nine staff members.
A signed statement issued by management of the company said that “The Ghana Police Service, the Fire Service, NADMO, Factory Inspectors and other Statutory Bodies are conducting investigations to ascertain the actual cause of the accident”.
Management, in their statement, blamed the incident on what they termed as a mechanical failure.
They however, expressed regret about the accidental spillage of hot water from one of their Biomass Boilers.
Managing Director of the facility, Alex Owusu, noted that “the management of the company and KNUST express their deepest grief and condolences to the bereaved families”.
He also assured them of granting all the necessary support that they might need in these difficult moments.
