A final year student of Jachie-Pramso Senior High School (SHS) in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region has been found dead with dry leaves suspected to be ‘Indian Hemp’ in his pocket.
The 19-year-old General Arts student, whose name was given as Osei Paul was found dead after going missing on Wednesday, October 6, 2021.
A station officer at the Jachie Police Station, Chief Inspector Samuel Kra, who confirmed the news to the media said the half-naked body of the deceased was discovered by a resident in an uncompleted building at Pramso, few kilometres away from the school.
According to the Chief Inspector, the family of the deceased confirmed the identity of the boy after autopsy at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
He revealed that though the police are yet to make any arrest, investigations have begun to uncover the cause of death.
An anonymous source at the school however said authorities only realized Paul had disappeared from the school on Wednesday morning, October 6, 2021, at the time he was supposed to sit for the last paper of his final examination.
The source added that, all efforts by the school to find him proved futile.
“We later heard that the dead body of a young man of the same age who is our student was discovered by the police at Pramso and so we had to rush to the police station”
“We are waiting for the family and police in charge of the case so that together with our housemasters we can confirm whether or not the deceased is indeed our missing student”, the source said.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Pramso, Nana Gyampotua II, who deployed his sub-chiefs to the scene on the day the body was discovered said a substance suspected to be Indian Hemp was found on the body.
He called for investigations to find out what the student was doing in the uncompleted building while his colleagues were in school learning.
