The Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has expressed sadness about the passing away of the immediate past Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ishmael Ashitey.
The former Member of Parliament for Tema East died on Friday, January 7, 2022 the International Maritime Hospital (IMAH) after a short illness.
Taking to Facebook, Dr. Bawumia extended his condolences to the family of the ex-Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) prior to the 2016 elections.
He wrote “My condolences to the Ashitey family on the passing of Mr. Ishmael Ashitey, who was an ex- Minister of State, former Tema East MP and NPP regional chairman. My thoughts are with them at this difficult period.
“May Hon. Ishmael Ashitey’s soul rest in peace.” The Vice President posted.
The late Ishmael Ashitey until his death, was preparing to contest for the National Chairmanship position of the party in the upcoming NPP primaries.
He left behind a wife and four children.
