End Ghana’s 40-year AFCON trophy drought – Bawumia to Black Stars

The Vice President, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia has called on the Black Stars team to do all they can to end the nation’s forty-year wait for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy.

The senior national team is currently competing in the 2021 AFCON which is ongoing in Cameroon.

Ghana will begin its quest to bring home the trophy which the country last won in 1982 in Libya today when they meet North African side, Morocco.

Ahead of the clash, the Vice President has taken to his social media handles to wish the Black Stars well.

“My best wishes for the Black Stars as they commence their campaign in the 33rd edition of the AFCON against Morocco today. The nation is behind you to end your 40-year wait for the AFCON trophy. Go Black Stars go…,” he posted.

Ghana’s game against the Atlas Lions will come off at 4:00pm.
