The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that the reopening date for all public basic schools is slated for Tuesday, January 18.
According to the service, the decision become necessary after the approval of the Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, following the recommendation of the ministerial committee on schools.
In a statement, signed by the Public Relations Unit of the GES, it noted that, Kindergarten, Primary and Junior High School pupils are to report to school on the aforementioned date.
However, at the second cycle level, April 4, 2022 has been set as the reopening date for SHS one students.
Meanwhile, SHS two and three pupils will resume on February 7, 2022.
The communique thus, asked parents, teachers and students to take note of the changes in the school reopening dates.
The announcement comes as a relief to students, parents and teachers who were unsure of when schools will reopen after the Christmas break.
However, some private schools have since reopened for the current term after the Christmas holidays.
It therefore noted that “the full calendar of the 2022 Academic year for pre-tertiary public schools will be made available” at all platforms of the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service.
