The Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo has come under severe criticisms from some members of the public after a video of her dancing on Tik Tok went viral.
This comes after MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, lambasted her for being absent from parliamentary proceedings and spending time dancing on the social media app. He said Adwoa Safo may lose her seat as a member of parliament if she does not return to parliament.
The Dome-Kwabenya legislator’s absence from Parliament for 16 cumulative sitting days has made her susceptible to losing her seat as stipulated in Article 97 (1) clause (C) of the 1992 Constitution, which reads that any member of the House who absents himself for a period of 15 days is liable to vacate his or her seat.
Her viral video has caused mixed reactions from Ghanaians.
Most commentators have descended on the MP asking her to fix her constituency instead of dancing on social media.
According to social media users, the legislature should focus on doing her work both in parliament and her constituency.

Others threatened that the MP would lose her seat for her actions.

Sarah Adwoa Safo has been out of parliament for sometime now amidst the E-levy controversies. Whilst the Spokes person for the Minister, Nana Dubin has disclosed that she is on leave to take care of her personal needs, Kennedy Agyapong claims that she is not in parliament because she wants the position of the Deputy Majority leader.
