The Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has disclosed that as businessman seeking contract from his party which is in government, he “begs like a kid”.
The legislator, who is known for his vociferousness, said in an interview monitored by Angelonline.com.gh that though he is able to speak antagonistically without restraint, he humbles himself where business is involved.
“They way I run my mouth to defend NPP [New Patriotic Party], if I want a contract, I beg like a kid. Read my lips, I beg like a kid in NPP before they give me some,” he said on Asaase Radio on February 22, 2022.
He noted that despite of the passion he has demonstrated and continue to do for the New Patriotic Party, what he receives at the end of the day as part of the contract is but little.
“When you go there for 100, they’ll give you piecemeal, 20”, he said, adding “I look at them and say no, forgive them for they don’t know what they are doing”.
The Assin Central MP is an entrepreneur who owns companies including Oman FM, Ash FM, Net 2 TV which are media firms, Super Care Company Limited which deals in air condition, M/S imperial World Business Limited, Gold Coin Communications among others.
According to him, despite all the wealth and the desire to expand his business, “it is not all rosy as you see it out there” but then the challenges he faces in the party do not quash his passion.
“We all have problems but party first,” he added.
He made these statements while speaking on Sarah Adwoa Safo’s absence from the country and her demand to be reinstated as the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament to which he was opposed.
