The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has announced the resumption of academic activities from Thursday, February 24, 2022.
A statement dated Tuesday, February 22, 2022, and signed by the deputy registrar of KNUST, Margret Dzisi said, the decision was taken following the suspension of the University Teachers Association of Ghana’s (UTAG) strike action.
“It is announced for the information of students and staffs that following the suspension of the industrial action by the UTAG, lectures for the 2022 academic year will begin on Tuesday, 24th February 2022. All are kindly to take note, accordingly” the statement contained.

In a related development, the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) has also served notice to resume lectures on Monday, February 28, 2022.
A communique issued by the institution said, “management has today, 22nd February, 2022approved the following interim reopening arrangements pending the approval of the Revised Academic Calendar and schedule of Lectures by the Academic Board.”
“Lectures for all students will commence on Monday, 28th February 2022,” the statement said.
The statement also indicated that lectures for the first semester of the 2021/2022 Academic year will adopt a blended approach where an interim schedule starts from “Monday, February 28 to Sunday, March 6.”
It further said that “only registered students per the policy of the institute will be admitted to the lectures.”
The communique further urged all postgraduate and undergraduate students to undergo a medical examination before matriculation takes effect.
