Three suspects have been arrested by Police intelligence-led operations in the Accra Region for illegal possession of firearms.
They were arrested on February 21, 2021, by police targeted intelligence-led operations conducted at Tema community 25 and Dansoman respectively in the Greater Accra Region.
Suspect Abdul Razark, age 46, was grabbed through the operation at Tema Community 25 for the unlawful possession of firearms.
A search conducted on him at his hideout led to the retrieval of an AK47 assault rifle, 90 rounds of live AK47 ammunition, 4 rounds of 17mm ammunition, a machete and a rubber pistol.
Meanwhile, suspects Hamza Yakubu and Mubarak Yakubu who were also arrested at Dansoman had one pump action gun and a pistol following a search conducted on them.
The Police in a communique noted that “all three suspects have since been put before the court.”
“We shall continue to conduct targeted intelligence-led operations to clamp down on criminals and also ensure illegal weapons are retrieved from the society,” the Service pledged in a statement issued Thursday.
